FAIRFIELD, Ala. (AP) - Former Alabama and NBA player Leon Douglas has been named head coach at Miles College. The Division II school announced the hiring Thursday. Douglas had coached Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival Tuskegee for eight years, leading the Tigers to the Division II quarterfinals last season.

BRYAN, Texas (AP) - Kristen Gillman increased her lead to six strokes Thursday in the Junior PGA Championship, shooting a 1-under 70 at Miramont to reach 11 under. Gillman, the 16-year-old Austin, Texas, player who has committed to Alabama, had the best three-day total in the history of the girls' division.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Clayton Kershaw scattered nine hits and struck out nine while tying his career-best winning streak of 10 games, and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Atlanta Braves 2-1 Thursday night to complete the three-game sweep. Kershaw pitched his second consecutive complete game for the second time in his career.

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Tiffany Hayes scored a career-high 27 points, Angel McCoughtry added 21 and Erika DeSouza had 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Atlanta Dream to an 85-75 victory over Tulsa on Thursday night. The Dream trio combined to go 25-of-37 from the field for the East Conference leaders.
