JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - The Jacksonville Jaguars signed rookie defensive back Deion Belue on Wednesday and waived rookie running back Beau Blankenship. The 5-foot-11, 182-pound Belue played two seasons at Alabama after beginning his career at Northeast Mississippi Community College.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - Southern Conference Commissioner John Iamarino is grateful he's through with the late-night rumors and frantic calls to league members about whether they'll be leaving - at least for now. Iamarino says the SoCon is locked in with 10 members eager to stay part of the Football Championship Subdivision league and aren't looking to bolt.

ATLANTA (AP) - Freddie Freeman hit a three-run homer, Ervin Santana won his second straight start and the Atlanta Braves beat the Miami Marlins 6-1 Wednesday night. The victory pulled Atlanta within one game of first-place Washington in the NL East.
