Very hot weather through the weekend

An upper level ridge has moved eastward and is in firm control of our weather.  The heat will continue to increase over the next few days with high temperatures ranging from the upper 90's to near 100.  Humidity values won't be too out of control, but will still push the heat index to 105 in places. Afternoon shower chances will increase early next week and with that will come a slight reduction in the high temperatures.

Rain chances-

  • Tonight:     10%
  • Friday:       10%
  • Saturday:   10%
  • Sunday:      20%
  • Monday:    30%
7 day forecast-
  • Tonight:  Stray evening shower, low 75.
  • Friday:  Partly cloudy, high 98.
  • Saturday:  Partly cloudy, low 76/high 99.
  • Sunday:   Slight chance storm, low 76/high 97.
  • Monday:  Few Storms, low 74/high 93.
  • Tuesday: Chance t'shower; low 74; high: 93
  • Wednesday: Chance t'shower; low 74/high: 93
  • Thursday: Chance t'shower; low 74; high 95.

6pm update: Shower coverage today was never very big.  And now, we find that just about all of the showers have dissipated.  The exception is over parts of Chilton and Coosa counties, and even there the showers are slowly falling apart.

10pm update: Radar is almost free of rain though there are a few showers in Pickens and west Tuscaloosa counties.  These should gradually weaken, though I cannot rule out a shower in a few spots until as late as 1 or 2 am. We are on a pace to have a low temperature in the low to middle 70's.  Upper 90's appear likely Friday and Saturday.
