Jon Paepcke joined Alabama's 13 in November 2002. He likes to use his constant curiosity for the truth and investigative background to reveal the hidden stories area viewers want to see.
Since arriving in the Magic City, Jon has uncovered numerous stories of consumer fraud and government corruption. Most notably, has spent time covering numerous high profile federal fraud trials. They include the corporate fraud case against HealthSouth founder Richard Scrushy, former Governor Don Siegelman's fraud trial and bribery trial against former Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford. He also contributed to the station's extensive coverage of the April 27, 2011 tornadoes.
Jon has been humbled to receive a handful of television news awards over his career. They include the Alabama Broadcaster's Association award for Best Reporter and Associated Press Awards for Best Spot News Coverage and Best Investigative Report.
Jon hails from the riverside city of Columbus, Ga. He graduated in 1997 with a Broadcast News degree from the University of Georgia Journalism School. He was fortunate to secure a reporting job at the CBS affiliate in his hometown, where he worked for five and a half years in every capacity.
Jon was raised a Crimson Tide fan, and despite his academic credentials, he roots for Bama no matter who they play, including the Georgia Bulldogs. Jon enjoys spending time with his bride Jennifer, his son Jack and daughter Julia. His is an active member of Hunter Street Baptist Church, coaches youth soccer and is always looking for another outdoor project to tackle. He looks forward to continuing to make a difference in the viewers' lives.
