The 17-year-old son of a Clay daycare worker has been arrested and charged for the sexual abuse of children in their care.
Eric Lemont Higdon, 17, was charged as an adult with sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old and two counts of sodomy first degree with the victim being less than 12 years old.
Higdon was arrested Aug. 31, but posted bond of $150,000 and was released from the Jefferson County Jail on Sept. 2.
Jefferson County deputies received a report Aug. 18 that Higdon had inappropriate contact with a child at Mama's Place Christian Academy in Clay. That week, a total of three families reported similar incidents. Victims were 5, 5, 4 and 3 years old.
Deputies determined that Higdon was coming to the facility on a regular basis and sexually abusing children while he was there.
The employee has been dismissed from the day care facility, and neither she nor her son is cooperating with the investigation on the advice from their attorney.
