The Heisman trophy is one of the most sought after awards in all of sports, it’s an elite fraternity made up of what is considered to be the top players in college football. So who will the Heisman Trust invite to New York in 2012? 

What we know.

The votes are in and the Heisman will be announced Saturday December the 8th at 7pm CST on ESPN.  

If Johnny Manziel wins he will become the first freshman to ever win the award.

Manti Te’o wins he will become the first true defensive player to ever win the award.

Alabama’s AJ McCarron has a shot at getting an invite as the nation’s most efficient passer.

The Top Three:


  1. Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M: Passed for 3419 yards with 24 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. Manziel rushed for 1181 yards and 19 touchdowns.


  1. Manti Te’o LB, Notre Dame: 103 tackles 1.5 sacks and 7 interceptions.


  1. Collin Klein QB, Kansas State: Passed for 2490 yards with 15 touchdowns and 7 interceptions plus rushed for 890 yards adding 22 rushing touchdowns.


Possible Invites:


  • Marqise Lee WR, USC: 112 receptions for 1680 yards with 14 touchdowns.


  • AJ McCarron QB, Alabama: Completed %66.8 of his passes for 2669 yards with 26 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.    


  • Braxton Miller QB, Ohio State: Passed for 2039 yards with 15 touchdowns and 6 interceptions and rushed for 1271 yards adding 13 rushing touchdowns. 


  • Kenjon Barner RB, Oregon: Rushed for 1624 yards on 248 carries for 21 touchdowns.
