NBA Weekly Recap: Week 5

The New York Knicks are atop the Eastern Conference once again this week. The Knicks defeated the Miami Heat by 20 points this past Thursday without Carmelo Anthony. The Knicks have beaten Miami twice already this season and have exposed their lack of defensive toughness. The Knicks won three games this week and loss one to the Bulls. The Knicks are definitely becoming a true contender in the Eastern Conference and are still waiting for Stoudemire & Shumpert to return from injury. They have two games this week against the Nets & Lakers to showcase their best record in the East.  The Knicks are a high powered offense that features one of the league’s best three point shooting teams. The Knicks can put some distance between themselves and the Nets in the Atlantic Division with a win on Tuesday night.

The San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder now share the best record in the league. The Spurs have won five straight but they have four games this upcoming week against some tough competition; teams like the Jazz, Trailblazers, Celtics and Thunder. The Thunder have won eight games in a row and seem to be finding their stride with this new roster. The Thunder havean easier schedule this week but ends with the Spurs next Monday night.

The Clippers have won six straight games and still lead the Pacific division. But, there is a new team contending for thedivision title and it isn’t the Lakers, it is the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors are quite the surprise and have the second best record in the Pacific. They are 7-1 in their last eight games. The Warriors are led by their young backcourt of Curry and Thompson and by David Lee in the post. This team is young and will only get stronger once Andrew Bogut returns from injury. The Warriors are one of the teams to watch in the Western Conference.
