Shelby Co. family of missing teen awaits I.D. of deceased male found

Posted: Updated:

A Shelby County family is waiting to learn if the body of an unidentified male found in Talladega County is their missing teen son.

The deceased male was discovered Tuesday along the side of a county road in 3000 block of Sycamore Cemetery Road, according to the Talladega County Sheriff's Office. A family relative of Cameron McGlothan, 19, said they are having a difficult time.

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office says investigators are still treating this case as an open and active missing person case until they receive a positive ID on the individual found. In the meantime, investigators say they're continuing to follow up on leads.

McGlothan's mother last saw her son the evening of March 5 at their home in the Highland Lakes neighborhood. At some point that night, the teenager left willingly with a friend in a red SUV, according to investigators.

If you have any information on McGlothan' whereabouts, call the Shelby County Sheriff's Office at 205-669-4181.
