If you have an outstanding ticket in the City of Bessemer, a chance to wipe your slate clean is coming. Starting Friday, March 15th, the City of Bessemer's Division of Municipal Court is launching "Operation Clean Slate". The amnesty program is designed to offer thousands a chance to address any Failure to Appear warrants without penalty of being detained. Those who appear are expected to pay their outstanding fine in part or in full.
Bessemer Magistrate Maurice Muhammad says Operation Clean Slate will address misdemeanor cases only. The program will cover any Failure to Appear warrants issued from 2002 thru 2012.
The amnesty session will be held six days over the next few months.
The first session will be held March 15, 2013 from 9 a.m.to 3 p.m.
The following dates are March 28, April 4 and 5, May 2 and 3.
All sessions will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bessemer Municipal Court, 23 15th Street.
