A Gadsden man has been formally charged in the death of his 20-month-old daughter.
Stephon Lindsay was charged Thursday with capital murder in connection with the death of his daughter, Maliyah Tashay Lindsay. He's being held at the Etowah County Jail without bond.
Maliyah Lindsay was reported missing Monday evening after her mother had not seen her since March 5. Lindsay told the girl's mother, Tasmine Thompson, that he was taking the child to his sister's home for a few days.
After a week, Thompson told Lindsay she wanted to get her daughter, and he said he'd go with. Lindsay then left alleged to go get gas for his car. Thompson called Lindsay's sister, who said she had not seen the baby in several weeks.
Maliyah Lindsay's body was found in a wooded area Tuesday, shortly after her father's arrest.
The girl's funeral will be held Saturday, with a visitation Friday, at West Gadsden Funeral Home.
