The first two days of the SEC Tournament have come and gone and now it's time for the real SEC Tournament to start. Sure LSU-Georgia was a good second half of basketball to watch and Arkansas-Vanderbilt was a good game to watch, but really the SEC Tournament and all its madness starts today.
Florida and LSU get things started and this will be a better game than most people think. LSU isn't a world beater, but their scrappy and LSU's Johnny O'Bryant III is one of if not the best underneath players in the SEC. Florida is rested and should win this game, but it won't be a cakewalk. UPDATE: It was a cakewalk for Florida as they hammer LSU (80-58)
Alabama versus Tennessee might be the game of the day. Both of these teams are fighting to stay on the NCAA bubble conversation and the loser of this one can hang up their dancing shoes and start to get ready for the NIT. If Tennessee wins I think they're in regardless of what happens on Saturday. If Alabama wins then they will still have some work to do versus likely Florida on Saturday. These two teams split the regular season with both teams winning their home contest. Alabama might still feel as if they got robbed up in Knoxville after the "no call" in the final seconds of that one. Either way I think this game is going to be close and should provide "March Madness" like moments. UPDATE: Alabama keeps it's season alive beating Tennessee (58-48)
TOM ANNINO PREVIEWS: ALABAMA-TENNESSEE
Vanderbilt and Kentucky get things going in the evening rounds. I think this game might have had a little more hype if Arkansas would have made it past Vandy, but I still think this will be a good game. Vandy is in rebuilding mode but Kentucky is very inconsistent. If the Wildcats play like they did this past Saturday knocking off Florida then they will run-a-way with the game, but you never know with them. A lot is on the line for this young Kentucky team and we really don't know how they will handle the pressure, but I think they get it done today and move closer to the NCAA Tournament at-large bid.
The nightcap will be just as big of a game as the Alabama-Tennessee game. Ole Miss is right on the bubble and a loss to Missouri will likely make them NIT bound. I think no matter what Missouri is in, but a good SEC Tournament run could really boost their seeding in the big dance. The thing I'm watching in this one is the play of Marshall Henderson after being left off of the All-SEC 1st team. I think he will play like he has something to prove. I think this game is too close to call, but if I had to pick I guess I would go with Ole Miss just because they have a little more on the line.
