BIRMINGHAM, AL -

On Tuesday, March, 19th, members of the Alabama NAACP will hold a media conference and rally at Kelly Ingram Park to address allegations of discrimination against independent black farmers.

According to the Alabama NAACP's media release:

"The Alabama State Conference of the NAACP has received several complaints from Black Farmers that they continue to be denied equal treatment by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).  Allegations include claims of black farmers being denied equal access to farm loans. While this discrimination is well documented, the USDA has not settled thousands of claims."

Members of The Alabama State Conference of the NAACP along with a few farmers and members of  USDA Coalition of Minority Employees will gather Tuesday at 10:00a.m. at Kelly Ingram Park in Birmingham to expand on these claims and communicate actions that they will take.
