NORTHPORT, AL -
The City of Northport has a new police chief Tuesday.
The Northport City Council appointed Kerry Card as the city's new police chief Monday night.
Chief Card spend the past year as interim police chief, after former chief Robert Green retired, following an audit that said Green used coercion, threats and punishment as "power tools of intimidation" to run the department.
Chief Card has been with the NPD since 1990.
He says as chief he will hire about 5 new police officers and cross train department heads.
