From Birmingham City Schools closing meetings to students learning about the dangers of tobacco, here's a quick look at stories that we're following on Wednesday morning, March 20, 2013.
On Wednesday evening, Birmingham City School Officials will meet with parents and students who attend Lewis, Norwood, Hemphill and Jackson Elementary schools. The information meeting will be held at Hudson School at 6 p.m. Parents and students will learn more about the city school system's financial recovery plan and where students will attend school after the consolidations.
Also, in Birmingham and in other news, a group of federal employees are planning a rally to protest sequestration. The rally is planned to take place outside of the Birmingham Social Security Center. The group says they will highlight how cuts will affect the public. Wednesday's rally is part of a larger effort called National Day of Protest. The event is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m.
