Schools in Walker County are getting a visit from the newly-formed Walker County Safety and Security Committee.
The group, which consists of the fire marshall, police chiefs and other local first responder leaders, will tour each facility before the end of the school year.
The group is looking for ways to make schools safer for students and employees.
"If we can decrease the amount of violence or instances that we have, all the work is worth it," said Scott Karr, assistant police chief at the Sumiton Police Department.
Alabama's 13 Ashley Roberts will have more tonight at 5 and 6.
