Woman, young girl shot to death in Jefferson County; boy wounded - WVTM-TV: News, Weather, and Sports for Birmingham, AL

A woman and a female child have been found dead in a Jefferson County apartment complex.
Jefferson County Chief Deputy Randy Christian stated in a new release that deputies and Rocky Ridge Fire Department responded to a call at the Rocky Ridge Apartments. There, deputies discovered the bodies of the woman and the female child inside an apartment. They had apparently been shot to death.
A five-year-old male child was also found wounded in the apartment, but was still alive. The boy was airlifted to an area hospital with critical injuries.
Chief Deputy Christian also stated in the news release that preliminary information is that this incident may be connected to the discovery of the body of a man in Fairfield this morning and this is possibly a murder-suicide situation. Sheriff's investigators are working with Fairfield Police investigators on that possibility.
