
UPDATE: The FBI has taken samples of the material to the State of Alabama Public Health Laboratory in Montgomery, an approved FBI and Center for Disease Control lab for testing these types of substances. "Presumptive screenings at the scene provided negative results concerning hazardous substances. However, the tests conducted by the state laboratory will provide definitive results," Paul Daymond of the FBI, Birmingham division said.

STORY FROM 3/20/2013:
The Birmingham Botanical Gardens was closed, after a suspicious package was found on their property.
A worker says the facility was evacuated, and the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service was called about 4:00pm CT.
At least 8 units from the BFRS arrived, including a hazardous materials unit.
Officials are still investigating the package at 5:00pm CT.
