Apparent murder-suicide in Jefferson County

A mother and her two children were found in the Park at Rocky Ridge Apartments in Jefferson County.  The woman and one of her children were dead.  The second, a five-year-old child, was alive but severely wounded.  All appeared to have been shot.

We're told detectives are working hard to determine what led to what is believed to be the murder-suicide; details are limited. The names of the victims haven't been released. People in this community are still in disbelief.

Deceives believe the case is related to a man, who was identified as Brandon Menefee of Midfield.  His body was found in a vehicle near Fairfield.  The coroner's office believes the gunshot wound was self-inflicted - leading detectives to the theory this might be a case of murder-suicide.
