"Ball Cap Bandit" arrested after traffic stop

A man referred to by the FBI as the "Ball Cap Bandit" has been arrested.

According to Special Agent in Charge Richard D. Schwein, Jr., Cedrick Lamond Hicks, 33, of Huntsville, was captured after a car stop in Decatur around 3:30 p.m. today.

Hicks is a suspect in several bank robberies, including:

  • Peoples Bank – Guntersville, AL – August 2, 2012
  • Traditions Banks – Priceville, AL - August 8, 2012
  • Cadence Bank - Albertville, AL – September 18, 2012
  • First National Bank – Pulaski, TN - September 19, 2012
  • Traditions Bank – Cullman, AL – November 26, 2012
  • Regions Bank – Rogersville, AL – November 27, 2012
  • Peoples Trust Bank – Hamilton, AL – January 7, 2013
  • ServisFirst Bank - Huntsville, AL - March 6, 2013

Hicks was dubbed the "Ball Cap Bandit" because he wore a baseball cap during robberies.

The United States Marshal's Service, the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Decatur Police Department all assisted in Hicks' capture.
