There are a number of roadwork projects in the greater Birmingham area scheduled for next week, March 25th through 27th. Here's a list from the Alabama Department of Transportation:
Weather permitting, Tuesday March 26 and Wednesday March 27, beginning at 9:30 a.m., the Alabama Department of Transportation will perform Geotechnical Investigations on I-59. The lane closures will be as follows:
Weather permitting, on Monday, March 25 at 9:30 a.m., the Alabama Department of Transportation will conduct a bridge inspection of the Highland Avenue Tunnel over US-31 (Elton B. Stephens Expressway) at milepost 273.3.
This inspection will require the US-31southbound, inside (left) lane and shoulder to be closed in the area of the work. Following completion of the southbound lane closure, work will continue in the northbound direction. All travel lanes will be reopened to traffic no later than 3:00 p.m.
Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this Maintenance Operation to improve Alabama's roadways.
