
Here are the the top stories for Saturday, March 23, 2013:
1.) A 10-year old boy is dead, after a massive sign collapsed on him, his mother, and three siblings at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport. It happened yesterday. The little boy has been identified as Luke Bresette of Kansas City, Missouri. His three siblings are at Children's Hospital, while his mother is at UAB Hospital.
2.) The teenager shot and killed at Railroad Park will be laid to rest today.
15-year-old Jarmaine Walton died Monday morning after being shot at the park the night before. Walton's homegoing celebration is today at Brooks Family funeral home chapel in Hueytown. The service will be at 1 p.m.
Burial will follow at George Washington Carver Memorial Gardens. Investigators have not named any suspects in Walton's death. If you have any information, call Birmingham police.
3.) The Alabama fan accused of poisoning the trees at "Toomer's Corner" in Auburn, is going to jail. Yesterday, Harvey Updyke agreed to plead guilty to criminal damage to an agriculture facility, which is a felony. He was sentenced to three years---and must stay behind bars for at least six months. After being released, he'll be under supervised probation for five years. Updyke's probation requires a 7 p.m curfew, he's forbidden to attend any college athletic events and updyke is banned from entering any property owned by Auburn University.
