One week from today, a scholarship dance will be held in Birmingham benefiting local students.
Jefferson County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. presents 100 years of Scholarship, Sisterhood and Service- Scholarship Dance.
The event is the chapter's annual fundraiser for scholarships. All money raised goes to graduating high school seniors in the Jefferson County area.
Organizers said, "We offer scholarships to students with a GPA of a 2.8-3.5. These students are usually overlooked for scholarships. We have many students who have gone on to successfully complete college and have written to thank us for helping them. They have commented that because of the scholarship money, they were able to purchase their books, and pay tuition."
So, how you can help?
Organizers said, "Members of the community can help by contributing to this worthy cause by purchasing tickets and participating in our scholarship dance. This is a worthy project and all monies raised goes back into the community and help students in our area."
The scholarship dance is Saturday, March 30 from 8pm to midnight at Bill Harris Arena at 2231 Bessemer Road in Birmingham
Tickets are $25.
