BIRMINGHAM, AL -
Today, Virginia College in Birmingham will host a Friends and Family Easter Open House for the community.
The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the campus located at 488 Palisades Blvd.
According to a news release, "While learning about the educational opportunities available to Birmingham-area students at Virginia College, attendees will have the opportunity to help local families in need by bringing non-perishable items to be donated to the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama."
People can also take part in an Easter egg hunt and other activities will providing for families as well.
Organizers say the event is part of a nationwide effort taking place on 31 campuses in 15 states including Virginia College, Ecotech Institute and Golf Academy of America, all career schools owned by Education Corporation of America, to support those in need.
