Auburn will start their spring practice tomorrow down on the plains. The Tigers will be without Blake Burgess who graduating early and will not return to the team. Also Erique Florence the junior safety from Valley, Alabama is not on the team as he takes care of personal issues. Florence also missed the Louisiana-Monroe and Alabama A&M games also dealing with personal issues.
The new leader of the Tigers, Gus Malzahn talked to the media today about his goals for this spring "we have to get our edge back and that's physically and mentally tough. We're going to be very physical during spring practice"
Goal number two Malzahn said "Players understanding of our base offense and defense. I think that's very critical, we want our guys when they leave spring to have a very good understanding of their responsibilities"
Goal number three for the Tigers "two deep depth chart. All positions are open, every one of them and we want to leave spring with a depth chart order by position".
The quarterback position is a big question mark for the Tigers. Auburn beat writer Joel Erickson from Al.com joined us today on Alabama Tonight. He talked today about the quarterback situation "Malzahn came in and took a guy like Chris Todd that hadn't necessarily shown a ton and turned him into a record setting quarterback in terms of touchdowns passes. The biggest thing is this system is built around making things simple on the quarterbacks".
Auburn starts practice tomorrow morning at eight o'clock in the morning. Alabama's 13 sports will be there and have all news and notes on Alabama Tonight at 6:30pm
