AUBURN, AL – The Auburn Tigers spent Saturday morning in the confines of Jordan-Hare Stadium with a two-hour full contact workout in full pads, their first contact work of the spring.
"It was a very physical practice," Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn told the media afterward. "We were in pads for the first time and did a lot to really strain them. It was good for us as coaches to see how they responded to different situations.
"It was our first chance to see blocking, tackling and everything that goes with that. Big picture -- after seeing some things, we've got a long way to go.
"I told the players, the great thing is I feel like most of them have the right attitude of wanting to get better. It's just a matter of getting in the proper shape, learning the right techniques and things like that. A lot of them are in shock with how fast the pace is, and fatigue goes along with that. It's going to be a matter of time before we get there."
Auburn returns to the practice field Monday morning.
A-Day is Saturday, April 20, with a 1 p.m. CT kickoff scheduled for Jordan-Hare Stadium.
