Coach Gus Malzahn's Auburn Tigers held a two-hour full-contact practice Wednesday morning at the Auburn Athletics Complex practice fields, highlighted by 45 minutes of situational scrimmage work. This was Auburn's fifth workout of the spring practice period.
"I told the guys after practice we've got a long way to go. Watching everything, we've got to get better at our assignments, as far as body language, as far as effort, everything," Malzahn said afterward.
"But the great thing is that the next couple of practices, we should see improvement. We've got most of our stuff in now and we should start seeing some improvement.
"We're trying to get them to think like we want them to think, play like we want them to play, everybody be together with great effort, great body language, the mental and physical toughness. We're straining them – they're out of their comfort zone, which is good – but after five practices, we should start seeing improvement."
Auburn returns to the practice field Friday morning. The Tigers are in their second week of spring workouts leading up to A-Day on Saturday, April 20, scheduled for a 1 p.m. CT kickoff at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
