The Birmingham Barons struggled to find their offense Friday night, falling by a score of 2-
1 to the Montgomery Biscuits in front of 4,009 fans at Riverwalk Stadium.
In a game where neither team could take advantage of potential scoring opportunities, the Barons got on the board first with a run in the fifth. The Biscuits did most of the work, committing two errors in the inning to put a runner at third base for Marcus Semien who came through with an RBI single, his first RBI at the Double-A level.
The lead would be short lived as Barons starter Spencer Arroyo surrendered his lone run of the game in the bottom half of the inning when a wild pitch allowed Ty Morrison to score from third base. Arroyo took a no decision, allowing six hits over 5.0 innings and striking out three.
He was relieved by Kevin Vance (0-1, 9.00) in the sixth. In his Barons debut, Vance surrendered a two-out RBI triple to Kevin Kiermaier as the Biscuits took a 2-1 lead they would not relinquish.
