Posted: Updated:

CENTER POINT – A passerby was shot in the head Tuesday afternoon, after a dispute that started at Center Point High School.

The 53-year-old victim was just walking in the 1800 block of Bond Circle NE in Center Point, when bullets started flying around 4 p.m.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office reports two juveniles had previously had an altercation with a 21-year-old at Center Point High School.

According to the Sheriff's Office, "The car driven by the adult had nearly struck the car driven by one of the juveniles. Words were exchanged and the School Resource Officer on campus directed the adult to leave the school property.  A short time later the juveniles were in their car at the intersection of Martinique Drive and Polly Reed Road waiting in traffic. The adult from the earlier confrontation drove by and fired one shot at them.  The bullet missed the juveniles, but struck the victim who was walking near the road. The suspect then fled the scene. The victim was transported to the hospital with a non life threatening injury."

The suspect has been identified. He's expected to be formally charged with first degree assault and two counts of attempted murder.
