Bulldogs give up 21 runs in loss

CULLOWHEE, NC -

The Samford baseball team dropped a 21-7 decision in game two of a three-game Southern Conference series at Western Carolina Saturday afternoon at Hennon Stadium.

With the loss, Samford falls to 19-17 overall and 8-9 in Southern Conference play. Western Carolina improves to 21-16 overall and 11-6 in SoCon play.

In the loss, Samford was led at the plate by C.K. Irby, going 3-for-5 with an RBI. Damon Waller went 2-for-2 with an RBI, while Brandon Powell went 2-for-2.

Irby (5-3) was also the starting pitcher for the Bulldogs, taking the loss. Irby pitched 1.2 innings, giving up five runs, four earned, on three hits in taking the loss.
