Some Birmingham high school students were recognized Wednesday for their work in a financial excellence competition.
Regions Bank and the Birmingham City School System honored students who were the top finishers in The Spring Challenge, a three-week financial excellence competition for all Birmingham City high school students.
Students learned practical financial lessons, while competing for points and prizes through online video games.
Financial topics in the game included uses and pitfalls of debt, budgeting, savings and more.
Birmingham Schools Superintendent Dr. Craig Witherspoon, Regions executive Bill Askew, and others were there to congratulate the students.
The recognition event kicked off the SummerQuest program, a summer development program for Birmingham City School students that focuses on financial education and provides various learning opportunities over the summer.
