Over 3,000 expected to attend National Walk at Lunch Day in Birmingham
BIRMINGHAM, AL -
More than 3,000 people are expected to spend their Thursday lunch
break walking. They are attending Blue Cross and Blue Shield's National Walk at Lunch Day at Linn
Park during their break.
The national walk first began seven years ago in
response to American employees not having enough time in their day to exercise.
Thirty minutes of moderate physical activity five times a week can lower the
risk of developing chronic health conditions like type 2 diabetes,
hypertension, and cardiovascular disease.
The health insurance company says it is committed to
helping Alabamians lead healthier lifestyles, which could mean lower healthcare
You can join the walk today at 11:00 a.m. at Linn Park.
Each walk will take place every 30 minutes.
