An 82-year-old Hoover woman is in jail for allegedly orchestrating a plot to have her family members killed.
Sue Chastain Hutchinson, 82, is charged with three counts of Solicitation to Commit Murder and three counts of Conspiracy to Commit Murder.
The elderly woman was arrested Wednesday Hutchinson was arrested in the parking lot of Lee Branch Shopping Center.
Hoover investigators arranged the murder plot because concerned about who might inherit her husband's estate after he died.
Police say the crime came as a shock to Hutchinson's relatives when they learned about her attempt to have three members of the family killed.
Authorities aren't disclosing the family member's relationship to her for their safety.
Police say over the last several days, Hutchinson had three meetings with a middle-man, whom she believed would hire the killer and during those meetings money was exchanged.
Hutchinson's fate will now be determined by a district attorney and possibly a jury.
"It will be up to the judge and as face as sentencing that will determine all the facts of the case. Theoretically, yes she could get a sentence," said Captain Jim Coker, Hoover Police Department.
The worth of Hutchinson husband's estate is unknown. Police say the 82-year-old admitted to detectives her plan.
Investigators say the actual murders were suppose to happen Wednesday and Thursday morning Hutchinson said she watched the local news to see if there was a story about the murders.
