Hoover's Household Hazardous Waste Day going on Saturday

Posted: Updated:

Hoover residents have the opportunity to throw away some household hazards Saturday.

The City of Hoover is accepting a number of items that are commonly found around the house, but cannot be thrown away like regular trash. The Hoover Police Department will be on hand to take back prescriptions and over-the-counter medications that are expired or no longer needed. Old and tattered American flags may also be dropped off to be properly disposed. No questions will be asked about any item.

Anyone who is a resident of Hoover may go by the Hoover Met (100 Ben Chapman Drive) until 3:00 P.M. to participate.

Below is a list of some items Hoover is accepting:

  • Household cleaners
  • Prescription and Non-prescription medication
  • Batteries
  • Paints
  • Electronics
  • Automotive fluids
  • Pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers
  • Kerosene
  • Firearms, ammunition, reloading supplies
  • Edged swords
  • Fireworks
  • Old and tattered American Flags
