NFL Draft Preview: Alabama

Posted: Updated:

Ever since Nick Saban arrived on the Capstone, Tide players have become a favorite draft target of NFL teams. The question this year is how many Tide player will go in the first round of this year's NFL Draft that starts on Thursday.

Last season the Tide had four players picked up in the first round, and this year the Tide could have as many as five or as few as three. "I think there's definitely going to be three first rounders and we'll see if Bama gets number four and number five" said Crimson Tide Network color analysis and former NFL GM Phil Savage. Most experts think Dee Milliner and Chance Warmack will be top ten picks with DJ Fluker not far behind them. Eddie Lacy and Jesse Williams also have a chance at breaking into the first round.

Here are Phil Savage's predictions for the other Tide players that might go in the later rounds.

  • Barrett Jones – "3rd or 4th round" and "he'll figure out away to become a starter" said Savage.
  • Nico Johnson - "Mid 3rd to 5th round"
  • Robert Lester - "5th-7th rounder, he's going to have to earn his way on special teams, but I think he can be a backup safety"
  • Michael Williams – "Had a great Senior Bowl" Savage Said. "I think he's going to be a late round pick"
