A new effort to bring the internet to more Birmingham residents has begun.
Birmingham Mayor William Bell and Councilor Jonathan Austin announced a pilot program to provide Wi-Fi access to several communities in the Magic City.
The Wi-Fi will be free, and will be available to four housing communities, to start with.
City officials say the Wi-Fi and internet will benefit residents to get answers they need, as well as benefiting public safety officials, who will always be in contact for whatever resources they need.
