TUSCALOOSA, AL -

A man suffered serious injuries, after being dragged by his own pickup truck, and then crashing into a motel.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department says the accident happened just after 2:00pm CT in the 1200 block of East Skyland Boulevard.

When officers arrived, a witness told them the driver of a red Chevrolet Z71 pickup truck was stopped in traffic, when he opened his door and appeared to be reaching out of the vehicle, when he fell out of the driver's seat.

The truck started rolling forward and the driver was trapped in the seatbelt and dragged on the road.

The seatbelt released and the vehicle possibly ran over the driver.

The truck then crossed multiple lanes of  traffic, rolled through a fence, and hit an occupied room at the Days Inn.

The motel guests were not injured.
