Wells Fargo announced its involvement in many programs associated with Birmingham's 50th anniversary celebration of the Civil Rights Movement.
During a news conference Friday morning, Leigh Collier, the mid-south region president for Wells Fargo, listed many ways the company is part of "50 Years Forward."
The company is providing financial support for many organizations and programs, which include exhibitions and events at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, college scholarships through the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church Foundation, the play "Letter from Birmingham Jail", and a reprint of "Green Power", and many other programs.
"We are excited to have another corporate partner as we commemorate ‘50 Years Forward' in Birmingham," said Birmingham Mayor William Bell. "Our thanks goes out to Wells Fargo for supporting this important year as we pay tribute to those who sacrificed so much."
