ETOWAH COUNTY, AL -

A man and woman are charged, after a car chase involving Etowah County Sheriff's Office deputies Wednesday.

The Etowah County Sheriff's Office reports Darrell Scott Firestone, 30, of Ragland, has been charged with one count of resisting arrest and one count of attempting to elude.

Firestone was also charged with ten traffic violations including an expired and switched license plate.

Amanda Michelle Sims, 29, of Piedmont, has been charged with one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

The suspects allegedly led law enforcement officials on a 6 minute chase in the Ballplay community, after authorities tried to stop them on a traffic stop.

Firestone and Sims allegedly took the pursuit through a resident's yard, neighboring driveway and into a cotton field.

The pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle abruptly died in the middle of Centre Road causing a minor collision with the following law enforcement vehicle.

Firestone, the alleged driver, ran away, and was caught soon after.

Sims also ran away, and was quickly found inside a nearby barn by Hokes Bluff police officers.
