Youth Sports: Oak Mountain All-Stars

Posted: Updated:

The Oak Mountain 11-Year-Old American All-Stars play in Metro Baseball, with a tournament at the end of their season.

"It's Rec-Ball is what they call it," head coach Jason Wergin said. "We do about 12-14 games in the regular season and the ones that make all-stars will do about 10-12 games in the all-star tournament."

The players we talked to say they would rather be out on the diamond than staying indoors.

"I just like to play baseball more than anything else," Oak Mountain player Anthony Alberghina said.  "I do enjoy playing pool and all that but baseball is really my favorite thing."

"I just really think baseball is really fun," Oak Mountain player Brandon Chaviano said. "Baseball to me is like my life."

"They just love baseball," Wergin said. "They had real good season this year in their regular season. Something stood out. They hit good. They fielded good. Some of them did all of it good."

And it looks like they're having fun playing the game they love.
