The Birmingham Area MLS announced this morning the official change to a new name, new logo, and new web site.
At a press conference press conference held during the Alabama Association of Realtors Summer Conference in Orange Beach, AL, the company unveiled the switch to the name Greater Alabama MLS, and a new web address, GreaterAlabamaMLS.com.
"We have spent the last six months preparing our new brand image and building an absolutely state of the art public search web site. The name change positions the organization and its members to be the trusted resource for real estate information with an established local presence," said Chip Watts, President of Greater Alabama MLS.
In terms of the new web site, Watts touted the involvement of Solid Earth, a Huntsville-based, software partner who developed the new Spring platform. This platform was built specifically to enable local MLS systems to compete with national real estate sites such as Zillow and Trulia.
"The new and improved web site is going to change the way consumers search for home listings while giving our local real estate professionals the tools and data they need to best serve their customers," said Watts.
Cliff Long, CEO of Birmingham Association of Realtors, added: "We want everyone who is considering purchasing a home or property to ‘Search Real Estate Like a Pro'. GreaterAlabamaMLS.com is a really powerful and innovative tool that provides all the same technological advantages as the national sites with a strong local presence to ensure accurate, robust information under the guidance of trusted real estate professionals."
A full marketing and media will launch in the Birmingham area in the coming weeks.
