More road work is set to begin on interstates in the Birmingham area. According to the Alabama Department of Transportation starting June 12th at 8 PM a planned moving operation for traffic stripping will begin. Here is what you need to know:
· I-459 northbound from the Grants Mill Road Interchange (exit 27) in Irondale to the US-11 Interchange (exit 32) in Trussville.
· This will be a moving operation and when the traffic striping is completed in the northbound direction of travel, the work will continue in the southbound direction.
This should be completed in approximately two to three days, dependent on weather conditions and work progress. All travel lanes will be reopened to traffic by 5 a.m. each day.
Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area.
