Pepper Place Market is vamping up the streets of Birmingham with a Tuesday night Street Market to be held on the third Tuesday of each month, beginning on June 18. Between 4 and 8 p.m., 29th Street South from 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue will be filled with farmers, food trucks and street dancing.
The opening of this Tuesday night market is supposed to give people who work in the city an opportunity to pick up fresh produce and a place to enjoy a meal, music, and dancing with friends. A main goal of Pepper Place is to support local farmers and artisans in the Central Alabama region.
For fourteen years, Pepper Place has hosted a Saturday market in the mornings, and has gotten larger by the year. They are excited to introduce the Tuesday Night Street Market as fun, wholesome summer event.
"It's smaller than the Saturday market and a great way to celebrate summer in the city," says Cathy Sloss Jones, founder of the Pepper Place Saturday Market.
Contra dance group Red Mountain, White Trash will lead dancing while local businesses such as The Red Cat Coffee House, Cantina, Bettola, and Vittoria will be open and serving food and beverages.
