WHAT'S WORKING: St. Clair County focuses on quality of life and job attraction

Posted: Updated:

It's a county that is the third fastest growing county in Alabama and  has two county seats, Ashville and Pell City.

St. Clair County is less than an hour northeast and east  of the state's most populous area -the Birmingham metropolis. Whether you drive to Pell City on Interstate -20 East or to Ashville on Interstate 59, the county is truly a short distance away from the hustle and bustle of the big city and is nestled in a geographically different landscape ripe with flowing creeks and two major lakes including the popular and pristine Logan Martin Lake.

On the job front, the Alabama Department of Labor April 2013 data lists the county's unemployment rate at 5.2% which is lower than that state's non-seasonally adjusted rate of 6.0%.

From a concentrated and consistent push to attract a wide ranges jobs by reaching out to businesses to city and county leaders aimed at supporting the county's Logan Martin Lake and other community friendly amenities; leaders in the county are moving forward with efforts to sustain a peaceful and productive quality of life for all.
