Birmingham police to supply water to needy as temps rise

BIRMINGHAM, AL -

Call it an operation to hydrate many in the Birmingham area, especially those in need as temperatures source during the hot days of summer.

On Friday, June 28, 2013, the Birmingham Police Department along with the City of Birmingham Mayor's Office and the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service will the annual, Hydrate the Homeless and Elderly water Donation day. The event will take place at Boutwell Auditorium in Downtown Birmingham from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Organizers are asking for bottle water to help those who are in need in the Birmingham Metro Area.

The Birmingham Police Department Community Services Division personnel will be on hand to accept water donations at the entrance to Boutwell Auditorium. If those who want to give are in a hurry, they can quickly drop of their water donations curbside and staffers will collect.

The BPD Community Services Division personnel will distribute the water to those who may be at risk from the heat.
