Auburn Athletics Department announced on Friday 2,000 free parking spaces for football season. Also new areas of campus will be opening up for tailgating.
Alabama's 13 took a tour today of the new parking and tailgating spaces and talked with Auburn Athletics Director Jay Jacobs about the new spaces. "Certainly going to be lot more opportunities for people to come up and park and enjoy the Auburn spirit and the Auburn family environment" Jacobs said.
The added spaces come after a survey that said fans wanted to enhance their gameday experience. Auburn is opening spaces by removing pipe and chain and bollard to allow parking along roadways. Also athletics officials worked with campus facilities and parking units to find areas around campus that are not currently being utilized.
The Forestry and Wildlife area named Weagle Woods at the corner of South Donahue and Lem Morrison will now be open to free parking as well.
Most of the parking and tailgating areas will open to public at 4 p.m. on Friday before home games. The rest of the lots will open up Saturday morning before games.
