The Shelby County Sheriff's office reports a teen led them on a high speed chase on 280, Saturday afternoon.
The Sheriff's office reports "At approximately 2:55 p.m. on Saturday June 29, 2013, a Shelby County Sheriff's deputy on patrol observed a car that matched the description of one stolen in northern Shelby County yesterday. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle on U.S. Highway 280 at Doug Baker Boulevard but the driver refused to stop and attempted to elude him. A short pursuit followed before the driver of the stolen car crashed in the area of U.S. Highway 280 and Shelby County Highway 41 and then fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, the driver was taken into custody. There were no injuries.
The driver is a juvenile and he will be charged accordingly. Because of his age, no further information will be released as to his identity. The stolen vehicle will be returned to the owner after Sheriff's investigators collect any evidence from it.
Sheriff Curry would like to thank the Alabama State Troopers, Hoover Police Department and the Cahaba Valley Fire Department for their assistance with the pursuit and capture of the suspect.
