BIRMINGHAM, AL -

The Jefferson County Sheriff's office reports a man working to clear a swimming pool drain drowned, Saturday.

The incident happened just before 4 p.m.  in the 8700 block of Lakeview Circle in the Woodhaven community.

The Sherrif's office reports  that the 59-year-old had been working with two friends. They were "working to clear a clogged drain in the deep end of a swimming pool. The victim was pushing a clearing tool through the drain while his friends waited at the pump for it to emerge. His wife came out and found him at the bottom of the pool.  The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene."

Officials don't suspect foul play. The victim's name is being withheld until family can be notified.
