Tuscaloosa Habitat for Humanity has handed over the keys to a brand new house in time for the upcoming holiday.
Habitat dedicated a house on Juanita Drive in the Alberta City area of Tuscaloosa.
Applause was in order when Sharon Horn received the keys to her brand new home thanks to Habitat for Humanity in Tuscaloosa.
The tornado survivor lived off University Boulevard in the Alberta City area in 2011 when the storm hit.
She said her home was destroyed. But horn believes out of the tragedy came good, hundreds of volunteers who put in lots of hard work on her behalf.
Horn said, "They were some of the most amazing people that you ever wanted to meet. I mean there was compassion. They were really humble and meek and considerate of you and your situation. And they really put forth a lot of work and just comfort you to let you know that it is well."
Knowing that her mom is well in her new home, Horn's daughter said, makes it a little easier to leave town in two weeks.
But before her daughter goes, the new homeowner said she's got an idea on how to keep her busy…moving. The new homeowner plans to move in over the July 4th weekend.
Habitat for Humanity purchased 34 lots, including Horn's on Juanita Drive.
