GADSDEN, AL -

The Gadsden Police Department say a woman reported she and her son were hit by a car after an altercation Sunday.

Around 7:05 p.m., a 21-year-old woman told police she and her 1-year-old son were hit by a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old woman. She told police the 19-year-old woman intentionally drove her vehicle onto the sidewalk, striking her in the back and running over her foot. Then, she said, the woman kept driving down the sidewalk and eventually hit her 1-year-old child before leaving the scene.

Apparently, the two woman had been in an argument about a man before the incident.

The 19-year-old woman told police she was attacked by several people and was trying to leave the scene. She said she wasn't aware of hitting anyone with her vehicle.

The child was taken to Children's Hospital as a precaution.

Involved parties were located and questioned. The investigation is ongoing.
