A body found in East Lake Tuesday afternoon was confirmed as 61-year-old Glenn Paul Florence
Shortly before 3 p.m., authorities reported finding a body floating in the lake at First Avenue North and 80th Street. A portion of the park was surrounded with police tape.
According to Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Randy Christian, the body was discovered by a man walking around the park.
The body was floating near a pier, and Christian said the matched the description of 61-year-old Glenn Paul Florence, who was reported missing after telling his family he was going to fish at East Lake Park and never returned.
The Jefferson County Coroner's office positively identified the body as that of Florence. However, the cause of death has not been determined.
